[ART] Stories that reach to your soul (The importance of character creation) PART 1

There are many reasons a story is so god darn awesome and we tend to ask why... these are some of the reason I've recolected for this day's blog.

1) The feeling, the believing

This is something made ahead by the characters and how well the story is explained.

Trauma Team is an amazingly well done story.

This is one hell of a good example for this blog.

The story is so damn good that you don't really notice that the graphics are only a bit passable in the game and that the cinematics actually look a little bit like animatics. How does it work? Simple.

You get to feel the story, there is a drama in the story too. Everyone tends to have trouble in this series and everyone is striving for their goal, every single character in this game stands out by themself.

Exactly, the ones that make you trasmit the emotion mostly in a story are the characters.

Here is an excerpt from a cinematic of Trauma team from Doctor 2 chapter 5 Mournful Hero.

Another excerpt from Doctor 1 chapter 6 Blade of Resolve

The reason of why these characters work is for one reason:

They feel ALIVE

All these characters feel alive because:

- They don't have all these wacky superpowers (which is the biggest common mistake in anime)
- They can and WILL die eventually even if it's out of story (A mistake Marvel/DC comics make)
- They have flaws (A mistake normal people with their so called OCs do)
- They have an objective
- They have an inner obstacle that makes them fail (something I learned today)
- All their personalities are different (another mistake in anime)

And even if they have some special abilities:

-One of the doctors is actually a superhero
-One of the doctors can hear the last words of dead people.

They are still believeble because of this, because they are very well built to the point that they could exist in real life.

and also, It's quite important to have an ideal voice acting (shown in a later blog) because it helps to get a connectivity with the story and the characters itself.

Let's see other examples of good characters:

Ah, harry potter, of course he is an excelent character. In fact, almost every character from the series is good.

Even if you don't believe it, Itachi is a very well built character himself. If you have seen Naruto yourself you would understand his internal drama that he has with his brother.

You might possibly not know this character... she is Namah and she belongs in the Dreamkeepers graphic novel saga This character is simply amazing.

This is a little extra in the blog.

The audience always think about how the character is based un what it looks like and also a bit of ASSUMPTION.

And I will give you a simple example showing a pony character... Derpy

(as a side note, Background characters in developments are NO LESS IMPORTANT than cannon characters, they all must have their story and identity)

This character just showed up in the background with those eyes (although standing) and that was it... and amazingly internet could sit down and assume most of what this character was.

The name, her job, her past story even that she is a little clumsy (which was them showed in a later episode) ... and a lot of other stuff

And the creator of the series (Lauren Faust) even had in her mind what the character's name was even if it's never said in the story, EVER.

It's important to build your characters well and think about what they will do... and if you are unsure about your character, behave like your character for a day, see if it feels like the character is doing ok.

Anyways, that was my today's blog...

see you all soon!

Sukotto.
